Georgian Capotaine Hat 1780/90s

Image description

The Georgian version of the Capotaine Hat.  The Capotaine Hat was popular from the 1590s to the mid 17th Century and then rose in popularity again in the 1780/90s.  This was not the last time it was to appear as a fashionable hat, as the Victorias picked it up again during the 1880/90s.

The majority of these hats were black felt, although there were some straw versions in this period.  During the Victorian period all sorts of colours abounded.

This 1780/90s version is made in black felt with a rounded tip.  It is decorated with gold silk and is a medium size.

If you would like it with alternative decoration or in another size, one can be made to your specific requirements.  Use the Contact Us in order to discuss your requirements.
