Elizabethan Percher Hats

During the Elizabethan period small hats which perched on the top of your head became popular.  They were worn straight and not at a jaunty angle as we tend to do in modern times and were usually pinned to a coif.  (Apologies that the hat has slipped on the very shiny head of our mannequin!)

The first one illustrated is in red dupion silk with intermitent pearls around the base of the crown and a small jewel.  This can be made in any colour of your choice and obviously, in more authentic plain silk if required.  It also sports a jaunty ostrich feather in ivory.

The second is a midi size capotaine hat made in felt with a gold and velvet band around the base of the crown and an ostrich feather.  This again sits straight on the head and would be worn over a coif.  This one is a little cheaper than the first as not so much handsewing is required.

If you would this style with alternative decoration, one can be made to your specific requirements.  Use the Contact Us in order to discuss your requirements.
