18th Century Cocked Hat (Tricorn)

A cocked hat, or as it came to be known in the Victorian period, a tricorn, was the staple hat for gentlemen of all social standings during most of the 18th Century.  As a result women adopted the cocked hat as a riding hat during the period.  These were nearly always made of black wool felt or fur felt and were in various sizes.

Our version in black here is of  a percher size and is decorated with a tartan rosette.  Other sizes of cocked hat are available on request.

We can also do the hats in coloured felt if that was required and an example is shown in red wood felt  with coloured ostrich feathers.
